Make Your Pet’s Senior Years Golden
Pets age at a much faster rate than we do because their projected life span is quite a bit shorter. An older pet in its senior years (greater than 7) may be more prone to serious health problems such as diabetes, arthritis, cancer, kidney disease, or heart disease. At San Pablo Animal Hospital, we can tailor a geriatric program to suit the needs of your pet and make every effort to keep him or her healthy in the senior years. Some of those services may include:
- Physical exams twice a year
- Oral exam and dental cleanings
- Thyroid, liver, kidney, and diabetes screenings
- Blood work to screen for anemia or cancer
- Urinalysis to check for kidney function and infections
- Fecal analysis to check for parasites
- Diet and exercise recommendations to avoid obesity
- Pain medication or laser therapy for arthritis
This will allow us the opportunity to detect serious health problems early and treat them rather than wait for major problems to develop.
