Our Veterinarians and Staff
Dr. Moody McCall
Dr. Moody McCall grew up in Jacksonville, FL. When he was thirteen, his father gave him a black Labrador retriever and he began working for Dr. Roy Brinkman at Arlington Animal Hospital to learn about dog training. That was the inspiration for his career in veterinary medicine. When he graduated from LaGrange College and University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1986, he and his wife, Eugenia, moved to the beach. In 1989 he bought San Pablo Animal Hospital. Atlantic Blvd. was widened in 1997 and a new hospital was built.
Dr. McCall has two sons, Clark and Chase. He loves photography, tennis, surfing, wakeboarding and dog training. He serves on the Board of Directors for Canine Companions for Independence and is currently training his 10th service dog puppy. This one is named McCall after him!! He is also serving as President of the Alumni Council for the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Heidi Chupp
Dr. Heidi Chupp graduated from the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine in Madison in 1999 and she and her husband, Brad, moved to Jacksonville later that year. She joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in August of 2001.
They have a multitude of critters: Jack, a greyhound; Buddy, a three legged Chihuahua; and 3 cats, Jerry, Stinkerbug and Stewie. Dr. Chupp enjoys boating, reading, mountain biking, camping and scuba diving. A Green Bay Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan since childhood, Dr. Chupp has also adopted the Jacksonville Jaguars, and is always looking forward to a successful season.
Dr. Chase McCall
Following in his father's footsteps, Dr. Chase McCall, graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in June 2018. He joined Dr. Moody McCall and Dr. Heidi Chupp as the third doctor on our veterinary staff. Chase has two dogs, Lilly, a yellow Labrador retriever, and Thorin, a crazy but sweet goldendoodle. He enjoys tennis, hiking, the beach, and working out. He is an avid Gator fan and is enjoying season tickets to the Jaguars.
Dr. Rebecca Rosenblatt, Dr.
Dr. Rebecca Rosenblatt attended the University of Florida for both undergraduate and veterinary school, graduating from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. She has two cats, Thor and Raegan, and enjoys running, hiking, and watchig game shows. She is a Certified Fear Free Professional and joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2020.
Eugenia McCall graduated from LaGrange College in 1981 and married Dr. Moody McCall. She worked in the Office of Education at UF College of Veterinary Medicine and then taught math at Stanton College Prep and Florida State College of Jacksonville. She now works as the Office Manager/Bookkeeper at San Pablo Animal Hospital.
Eugenia has 2 cats, Charlie and Mac, enjoys helping train puppies for Canine Companions for Independence, playing tennis, and getting to know the clients and pets at San Pablo Animal Hospital.
Janet moved to Jacksonville from Maine with her husband, Dan, who accepted a new job with a shipbuilding company. She has spent the last 25 years working as a licensed Veterinary technician.
She enjoys beachcombing, kayaking, and discovering all the new creatures here in Florida. She has 2 grown sons, a granddaughter, a Boston terrier and a cat.
Destiny began working in our kennel and has progressed to assisting as a veterinary technician. She is a pre-veterinary student at Florida State College and has a love for horses.
Sara Van Valkenburgh
Sara Van Valkenburgh joined our staff in 2020. She is experienced in assisting our doctors in surgery, with dentals, and in the exam room. Sara recently moved to Jacksonville to be closer to her family. She has volunteered with wildlife rescue organizations for many creatures including ducks, geese, squirrels, and racoons.
Jihae is our newest veterinary assistant. She is a student interested in pursuing veterinary medicine as her career.
Amber Griffin has been with San Pablo Animal Hospital since 1999. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and has worked as both a receptionist and animal technician.
Amber has a small zoo at her house including a mutt, a Border Collie, 2 Chihuahuas, enough cats to make folks call her a "crazy cat lady," a squirrel, bunnies, ducks, tortoises, turtles, an aviary and a fish tank! As you can imagine, she is great at answering almost any animal question. Besides taking care of all her pets, her hobbies are gardening, crafts, and pet sitting.
Miriam Brooks heads our reception staff. She joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2010 and earned a degree in Biomedical Science in 2017. Miriam has many years of experience as a veterinary receptionist in Orlando and Jacksonville. We are delighted to have her at our front desk. She has 4 longhaired Chihuahua’s, Kenji, Kitsu, Fergie, and Tootsie.
Sara Vallese joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2017. She has a background in veterinary medicine, both as a technician and a receptionist. Sara has a degree in Applied Science/Surgical Technology. She and her son, Orion, have a Texas farm hound, named Harley Boo, and 3 cats, Brian, Lulu, and Lil J.
Margie joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2018. She comes to us with over ten years experience as a veterinary receptionist. She has four cats and a beloved doggie named Jack. Born in Kentucky with family in the horse business, Margie has a love for horses and horseback riding.
Sophia joined San Pablo Animal Hospital in 2011. She obtained her grooming certificate shortly after graduating from high school and attended Animal Behavior College to obtain certification as a Veterinary Assistant. Sophia has a great way with animals and loves making them look gorgeous. She says working with animals is the best job in the world.
She has one daughter and one fur baby, a shih-tzu named Cammie. Other hobbies include playing softball and spending time with her friends and family.
Shannon Ruscitti began working in our kennel in 2005. Before coming to San Pablo Animal Hospital, Shannon was a volunteer at the Humane Society.
Shannon has three pets of her own, including a cat named after Winston Churchill. (She says he is fat, stubborn, and never surrenders a fight.) She has a cute, silly, Cocker Spaniel, Dallas, that loves bananas and a German Shephard named Lightening. Shannon’s hobbies are making beaded jewelry, reading, bike riding, and military history. Her favorite part of working at San Pablo Animal Hospital is hanging out in the back with your animals.
